Tax Tea Party a GOP PR Effort?
By InMyOpinion on Mar 31, 2009 | In The Nation
The erosion of liberty by government is becoming an increasing concern of the citizenry. "It is jeopardizing the principles this country is founded on." said William Perks of Centerport, NY one of the organizers of a Tax Day Tea Party scheduled to be held on Friday April 3rd at 4pm in Northport NY, a picturesque waterfront community on the north shore of Long Island. Fashioned after the historic Boston Tea Party of 1773, the event is being staged in 115 cities nationwide.
In case you haven't noticed, the many freedoms we have enjoyed in this country have been, and continue to be systematically eroded and "a growing number of people...are worried about losing those rights guaranteed under the constitution" says Mr. Perks. This Friday Tax Day Tea Party is a first attempt in this community to bring together concerned citizens to express their concern over the direction the country has been taking.
This is a great thing - this is a living example of people enjoying their rights of free speech and freedom to assemble publicly without fear of government retribution. This IS a great country...for now.

No long story short here but try to stick with me anyway...
So I'm looking to buy carpeting for a movie space (nothing too fancy just big screen TV, comfy chairs, posters on wall etc.) I've set up in my basement. I've searched for months for something not too tacky yet movie room thematic until I finally found something in the burgundy/brick color family with tasteful gold stars in a simple diagonal pattern. Classy, movie relevant and it matches the existing color scheme. "Great!" think I excited to have finally made my decision. I trot over to my local carpetmonger to inqire about buying said carpet but hear this instead. "Sorry" says she, "I can't get that carpet for you - we don't do business with that company". "Oh, okay" I say and leave figuring its a small store, probably can't work with all the manufacturers so I'll try a bigger player in the carpeting world.
Are You With Me?

"Never before have so many people with so little to say, said so much to so few" quoted my daughter from her 2009 Demotivator Calendar. While the statement succintly describes many peoples attitudes towards the phenomenon that is blogging, and may in fact apply to a majority of the diatribes one reads out in cyberspace, this writer hopes to not only develop a following of like minded individuals but build a community as well.
In a world that is becoming increasing insular, with the overzealous arbitreurs of political correctness stifling what we have left of free speech at every turn, hordes of people like myself are turning to the wide reach and anonymity offered by the internet and blogging in general to give full rein to free expression of thoughts and opinions that traditional media outlets seem hell bent on stifling at every turn. Our democracy cannot thrive in a climate where every special interest group gets its undies in a twist and cries foul when confronted with differing opinions or attitudes. Let this be my humble contribution towards offsetting the situation.
Surely there are many out there who feel as I do - I'm looking for you!
Are you with me?
